Terms of Service

Welcome to Ife! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Ife mobile application ("App," "Service," "we," "our," or "us"). By creating an account, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility

To use Ife, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract
• Not be prohibited from using the Service under Nigerian law or any other applicable jurisdiction
• Not have been previously banned from Ife

By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

2. Account Creation and Security

2.1 Account Registration

• You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
• You must verify your email address
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password
• You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account

2.2 One Account Per Person

You may only create and maintain one account. Creating multiple accounts may result in suspension or termination of all your accounts.

2.3 Account Security

• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
• We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized use of your account
• You may not share your account with anyone

3. User Conduct

3.1 Acceptable Use

You agree to use Ife in a respectful and lawful manner. You will NOT:

• Harass, bully, stalk, intimidate, or threaten any user
• Post content that is hateful, violent, discriminatory, or sexually explicit
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Use someone else's photos or identity
• Solicit money from other users
• Promote commercial activities or sales
• Post spam or unsolicited advertisements
• Distribute viruses or malicious code
• Scrape or copy user profiles or data
• Use automated systems or bots
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems

3.2 Profile Content

• Your photos must be of YOU (not celebrities, models, or AI-generated)
• Photos must be appropriate (no nudity, violence, or illegal content)
• Your bio must be truthful and not misleading
• You must not include contact information in your bio or photos

3.3 Community Posts

• Posts must comply with our community guidelines
• We reserve the right to remove posts that violate these Terms
• Anonymous posts do not give you the right to harass or abuse others

4. Content Ownership and License

4.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you post (photos, bio, messages, community posts). However, by posting content, you grant Ife a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:

• Display your content to other users
• Store and process your content on our servers
• Modify your content for technical purposes (e.g., resizing images)

4.2 Our Content

All intellectual property rights in the Ife app, including design, logos, text, and code, are owned by us. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our content without permission.

5. Verification

Our verification system helps build trust in the community:

• Verification is optional but recommended
• To get verified, you must submit a selfie with a government-issued ID
• We review verification requests manually
• Verification can be revoked if we detect fraud or misuse
• Submitting fake documents may result in account termination and legal action

6. Premium Subscription

6.1 Premium Features

Premium subscription (₦2,000/month) includes:

• See who likes you clearly
• Priority in match suggestions
• Verification badge
• Ad-free experience

6.2 Payment and Billing

• Payments are processed through Paystack (a secure payment provider)
• Subscriptions auto-renew monthly unless canceled
• You can cancel anytime in your account settings
• Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period
• No refunds for partial months or unused time

6.3 Price Changes

We may change subscription prices with 30 days' notice. Existing subscribers will be notified and can cancel before the new price takes effect.

7. Referral Program

• When you refer a friend using your referral code, you receive +2 bonus daily matches
• Bonus matches are granted when the referred user completes onboarding
• Referral abuse (creating fake accounts) may result in account suspension
• We reserve the right to modify or terminate the referral program at any time

8. Safety and Moderation

8.1 Reporting

• You can report users who violate these Terms
• We review reports and take action as appropriate
• False or malicious reports may result in account suspension

8.2 Blocking

• You can block any user at any time
• Blocked users cannot see your profile or contact you

8.3 Our Moderation

• We use a combination of automated systems and human moderators
• We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms
• We are not responsible for monitoring all user content

9. Privacy and Data

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Key points:

• We do NOT sell your data to third parties
• We use your data to provide and improve our services
• You can request deletion of your account and data at any time

10. Termination

10.1 By You

You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@ifeapp.com.

10.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

• You violate these Terms
• We suspect fraudulent or illegal activity
• You are under 18 years old
• You harass or abuse other users
• We are required to do so by law

We reserve the right to terminate accounts at our discretion, with or without notice.

10.3 Effect of Termination

• Your profile will be removed from the app
• You will lose access to all matches and messages
• Premium subscriptions are non-refundable upon termination

11. Disclaimers

11.1 No Guarantees

Ife is a platform to help people connect. We do NOT guarantee that you will:

• Find a romantic partner
• Receive any specific number of matches
• Have a particular experience with other users

11.2 User Interactions

• We are not responsible for the conduct of users on or off the app
• You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users
• We do not conduct background checks on users (beyond optional verification)
• Always exercise caution when meeting someone in person

11.3 Service Availability

• The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE"
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service
• We may modify or discontinue features at any time

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (or ₦5,000, whichever is greater)
• We are not liable for user-generated content or actions of other users
• We are not liable for loss of data, profits, or business opportunities

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Ife harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any rights of another user
• Your content posted on the Service
• Your use or misuse of the Service

14. Dispute Resolution

14.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

14.2 Arbitration

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Ife will be resolved through binding arbitration in Lagos, Nigeria, in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act.

14.3 Class Action Waiver

You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis and waive the right to participate in class actions or collective proceedings.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes:

• We will update the "Last Updated" date
• We will notify you via email or in-app notification for material changes
• Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance
• If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the Service

16. Miscellaneous

16.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Ife.

16.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.

16.3 No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right.

16.4 Assignment

You may not assign these Terms. We may assign our rights and obligations to any party.

16.5 Force Majeure

We are not liable for failure to perform due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control (e.g., natural disasters, wars, pandemics).
