1.1 Information You Provide
When you create an account and use Ife, you provide us with:
- Account Information: Email address, password, name, date of birth
- Profile Information: Photos, bio, location (city-level only), Yoruba name, gender, sexual orientation
- Preferences: Relationship intent, cultural values, family preferences, religious beliefs, lifestyle choices, personality traits
- Verification Data: Government-issued ID and selfie (if you choose to get verified)
- User-Generated Content: Messages, community posts, comments, likes
1.2 Automatically Collected Information
- Usage Data: How you interact with the app (profiles viewed, matches made, messages sent)
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, app version
- Approximate Location: City-level location based on IP address or device settings (we do NOT collect precise GPS coordinates)
1.3 Information from Third Parties
- Payment Information: We use Paystack to process payments. We do not store your credit card information.
- Social Media: If you connect social media accounts (optional), we may receive basic profile information
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide Our Services: Create your profile, generate matches, facilitate messaging
- Improve Matching: Use our algorithm to suggest compatible matches based on cultural values and preferences
- Safety & Security: Verify identities, detect and prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Service
- Communication: Send you notifications about matches, messages, and app updates
- Analytics: Understand how users interact with the app to improve features
- Legal Compliance: Comply with applicable laws and respond to legal requests
3. How We Share Your Information
3.1 With Other Users
- Your profile (photos, bio, preferences) is visible to users who match your criteria
- Only matched users can message you
- We show your city, NOT your exact location
- Community posts are anonymous (your name is not shown)
3.2 With Service Providers
- Supabase: Database and authentication services
- Paystack: Payment processing for premium subscriptions
- Cloud Storage: Secure storage for photos and verification documents
3.3 We DO NOT Sell Your Data
We will never sell or rent your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
3.4 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect the safety of our users.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest
- Secure Authentication: Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
- Access Controls: Only authorized personnel can access user data
- Regular Audits: We regularly review our security practices

5. Your Rights and Choices
5.1 Access and Update
You can access and update your profile information at any time through the app's Settings.
5.2 Delete Your Account
You can delete your account by contacting us at support@ifeapp.com. Upon deletion:
- Your profile will be permanently removed
- Your messages will be deleted
- Your community posts will remain but will be anonymized
5.3 Opt-Out of Communications
You can manage notification preferences in Settings. You can opt out of promotional emails but will still receive service-related notifications.
5.4 Data Portability
You can request a copy of your data by emailing support@ifeapp.com.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. After account deletion:
- Profile data is deleted immediately
- Messages are deleted within 30 days
- Verification documents are deleted within 90 days
- Some data may be retained for legal or safety purposes (e.g., banned users)
7. Children's Privacy
Ife is only for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we discover that a minor has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.
8. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and stored on servers located outside Nigeria. We ensure that such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws.
9. Cookies and Tracking
We use minimal tracking technologies to:
- Keep you logged in
- Remember your preferences
- Analyze app usage
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or sell your data to advertisers.
